Nice words from POR! i think he is absolute right. A Mentor would be nice. Actually I didnt Write much because of the above Posted reasons and somehow I didnt feel comfortable to do so (on Top my Life had a Lot of trouble lately, but I think everybody has that). But I will change for sure. But to get back to a Mentor.. Some guys could get it wrong if you say sth like "Hey, welcome to the league, for the first x month OP, Sun s., Jamal or whoever will be your Mentor". i have to say, I may would have reacted the same.. But I have to admit, Jamal was sth like a Mentor for me. He answered every question I had, and man I had a Lot. Even I would have been annoyed by myself.. So Long Story, what I want to say is: A Mentor could be a good thing, absolutely! But I think it has to develope on its own. "Giving" sb a Mentor could have a negative Impact. Just my 2 drunken Cents.

Also like the idea of a mentor - perhaps one of the mods - to help out and walk through the teams roster with the new GM. Explain how certain offenses work, etc. Perhaps give some background on the league, other GMs, etc. Sorry for Doublepost. Dont know how to get a Quote via Handy in my other Post.. I like this idea. If sb helps the New GM rating his roster or atleast telling him sth about the Engine would be nice. Maybe it doesnt has to be a Real Mentor type. Sth like a "Kind advice". In geman we would say "er würde sich nicht auf den Schlips getreten fühlen" (you doesnt step on his tie, man how to translate that stuft?!) and he could still Decide on his own. But for this it should be a more proven GM who isnt interested in any Players the New GM owns.

Andrei, the scouting thing has been worked out now and that was a "working out the kinks of the first period with the new system" and has been fixed. All scouting reports are sent out promptly after the deadline (I wait until the deadline to give people time to change their minds, especially pre-deadline since picks could be traded), so I hope all that at least allows you to give the draft media and scouting another chance. The way I look at it, this is the latest wave of talent to join the CSL, and I may not draft any of them, but I'll surely be playing against them.
As for what to write, league articles (articles about not your team) are really fun to write actually. I've had a couple of ideas brewing in my mind recently.
Love the mentor idea, thanks Andrei, SS, and Dennis for that insight.

Don't have any concrete suggestions, I just want to reiterate that this league is at it's best when everyone is contributing, and the more people that contribute (re. comment)..well it encourages others to do the same, which incentifies article writing. If one knows that an article will be read, and it will spark discussion on is more likely to do an article. This is all cumulative, if everyone takes responsibility and does their part this won't be an issue anymore. I won't lie my article production has dropped off because of the lack of reaction/comments/discussion. I'm sure others feel the same. I do need to post more in the game threads though, so I'll do that for sure.
It's a shame because the admin team is excellent and always trying to improve the system. Us as GM's should do our bit as well.

I have been for mentors ever since it was implemented in the last sim, but it sometimes just doesn't work out how you intend it to.
I'd only recommend it for guys who are entirely new to the sim.

Mentor idea sounds fantastic.
Posting in the sim results thread should almost be mandatory IMO. And like POR said, not "we played like crap". Give some sort of insight as to what happened. I know I may go a little above and beyond on my sim results compared to others, but it's because I like to write about my team and how they played.
I know I'm guilty of pigeon-holing my sights on just my team and need to get a better sense of what is going on around the entire league. This definitely helps drum up interest outside of your own team.
An article to accompany a trade sounds like a great idea. One article per team involved.

So the different things I've seen thrown around so far, and I may make new threads just to discuss these topics are: - League parity via WillyJakkz (which we can't do anything about as far as I know)
- Bring back the chatbox via kgdobby (which we got rid of initially because no one had used it in like a week and it just contributed to the "dead" feeling)
- More participation in Sim Results via andrei
- Articles to process trades via andrei (I will be making a new thread about this because the admins loved it)
- Mentor program to help guys new to the game/system/sim league get adjusted via andrei (I think everyone's agreed to this)
- Reining in GMs getting "attacked" after trades via andrei (us admins have made a note to keep an eye on that
Thanks guys so far for all the input. Keep it coming if you have any other thoughts!

Also, and this is something that us as GMs need to sponsor on our own, we need some more rivalries. We seem to be a league of nice guys (nothing wrong with that) but what I think would help with league history is more of a competitive landscape.

Rivalry started.
