I understand that the way three-ways are input is through temporarily increasing the cap.
If that's the case, why not introduce TPEs next season?
Normally in the NBA, whenever a team sends out more salary than it receives, it gets a TPE equivalent to the difference. This adds a whole new dimension of flexibility for teams over the cap, and is an integral part of getting creative with trades. I've personally always felt hampered by the lack of TPEs in sim leagues.
It could easily be kept track of in a separate thread, and whenever a deal would be used with one, it could just be jotted down accordingly.
Another is receiving minimum contracts. You don't need any outgoing salary to absorb a minimum contract, and this would make it easier for rebuilding teams to trade away minimum contracts for 2nds/whatever without the receiving team needing to send anybody out.
Just a couple of thoughts I had and wanted to get some opinion on it.

I assume TPE stands for trade something exception. I don't know how I feel about this. Never seen it in a league and I've felt that it's more trouble than it's worth. I don't really see it adding much depth to the league, just gives people more ways to go insane with trades IMO.
As for trading minimum contracts, is that an NBA rule? I know DDS doesn't allow it, so I'm not sure the official rule on that.

Minimum contracts is an official rule.
TPE's for Traded Player Exception. It's definitely something that will bring about more trades though, regardless of whether that's a good thing or bad thing. It just makes it more like the real NBA I guess.

No on the TPE. That thing will be a bitch to track, and a lot of GMs suck at math to begin with.

No on the TPE. That thing will be a bitch to track, and a lot of GMs suck at math to begin with. If that's the only thing against it, I'd volunteer to head it. It's simple addition and subtraction, and as long as it's kept up-to-date, there should be no problems with it. It's not like we have a ton of trades in the first place either.

I'd prefer to not add TPEs, but I don't have any real reason, just a personal preference.

I vote YES on the TPE idea.
As a Magic fan I see us time and again waste ours year after year as a way to avoid paying players and felt like we could've used it to our advantage pre Dwight trade as a way to absorb talent to make teams better w out "spending" per se (when we tried to get Chris Paul from NO by absorbing lots of salary). We just had a $17M TE go to waste a couple of days ago though we didn't really need to use it.
This adds much more to the sim aspect imo.

Would like more league input on this, though I guess we're in no rush.

If the mod team feel like they can properly track it I'm all for it.
