As of now, supercoaches are no longer for hire, please adjust your coaching bids accordingly. Supercoaches include Titus Parker, Beau Shelton, Dereck Webb and Josh Copeland, you may not hire any of those coaches. We will try to figure out a system for supercoaches in the future that won't be nearly as chaotic and doesn't end with half the league firing their coaches. Any suggestions are encouraged.

It's difficult because as time goes on obviously we'll need more coaches, but we don't want coaching changes every offseason. Perhaps a lottery system?

The coaches come through fine in terms of player retirements.

Maybe if it comes to the situation where we need fake coaches?
What does everyone else think?

I think he means guys like Kidd who become coaches after retirement aren't ridiculously overpowered like the supercoaches.

For example, Grant Hill, Brian Cardinal, and Jason Kidd became coaches upon retirement this season. Granted, they all suck right now, but coaches do improve as they get experience, and Hill looks like he might become a decent coach in time.

so how do we define a supercoach - is it: a coach that has very high attributes at a very young age? The first 3 are in their 40s but Josh Copeland is 51...

Very high attributes, period. If you noticed, almost all the coaches are C and D ratings. B and A ratings in the areas of Strategy, Development, and possibly Potential unbalance the game. Strategy = higher the level, the more likely you are to win games. Development = higher the level, the more likely your players develop. Potential = higher the level, the more accurate the listed potentials for your players are for the most part.

It's just an idea that came to mind after reading this: -What about making every coach the same level/rating? I mean, we could edit every coach to be like a C - C - C - C or whatever in every category? Since there's not a simple way to manage coaches as we do with players, and since we also make al the strategy/rotation decisions, their main goal is developing players, and we could make them all the same this way.
-Another idea that comes from here, is that for example every GM could asign an A, B, 2xC and 1xD (or whatever) to our coach in the categories we think we prefer for them.
Both make it a bit random, but it's just an idea that came to mind right now.

No on the first idea. Making them all the same destroys the sense of realism.
On the second one, you're basically going to end up with everyone making an A Development, B Strategy, C Potential, and whatever on the Offense/Defense since we already have current ratings in the HTML.

Coaches aren't editable in the database anyway.

so what about Phil Jackson, Sloan and the rest - were they removed from the game also? I see them as megasupercoaches. I see teams that have coaches with all Ds and then there is OKC with Phil? This is my first season but it seems like all can bid on coaches and then it is just a matter of luck no? so you could build a decent team and get a crappy coach because you were not lucky enough to get Phil... How did OKC get Phil? If we are removing the above I think Phil and the likes should be gone as well...
